Why Affiliate Marketing Is the Perfect Online Starter Job
Affiliate marketing is one of the first things that I really got into when I started.
Why? Because I had heard so many great things about it. Most people that I would follow online were making money with affiliate marketing and I knew that I could too. Now, the only thing that I wish I knew when I first started was that it would take more time than just a few hours to setup.
Affiliate marketing is something that you should only get into for a long term gain; it is not much of a short term payout because it does take a while to get going.
One thing that you need to know right now before you jump into affiliate marketing is that you need to have an online presence. I say this because many affiliate marketers don’t have a name built online and because of that it makes it that much harder to make any serious money.
Do yourself a favor, create a website, build your social media presence and always stay connected with the people you meet.
Why Affiliate Marketing Makes the Perfect Online Starter Job
Easy To get Into
– The nice thing about affiliate marketing is that it is really easy to get into. All you need to do is go to certain product pages or software pages and click on their affiliate link. Most of them will ask that you sign up through email but others will just give you a number to promote. Something that you need to understand is the better affiliate programs/products will ask that you have a website and these are the ones that will eventually make you more money.
No Upfront Costs Involved
– Did you know that with affiliate marketing you don’t have any costs upfront? I wanted to bring this to your attention because most people assume that they have to pay something in order to get started. Just know that affiliate marketing has more of a time investment than anything else and that is why some people fail so quickly. As long as you put in the time you will be just fine.
Easy To Get Help From Others –
When a friend of mine first started affiliate marketing he found somebody to help him online. My friend was introduced to marketing manager for some company in the Philippines, who taught him everything that he needed to know and even how to outsource parts of his work. It is because of all the people out there that want to help that he was able to get further along than I did when I first started, and he didn’t have to struggle with all the roadblocks that I had to deal with. This is the reason why I always suggest you find somebody that can help lead you along the way.
Luck Plays A Big Part In Your Success
– With everything I do I always ask myself whether I will make it because of hard work or luck and this is one thing that I do that has just as much luck as hard work. Yes, you still have to work hard but in the end luck will make a difference.
If you are looking to make more money than you currently are, then affiliate marketing is a great place to start. Something that most people don’t realize is that there are millions of products/services out there in which you can be affiliated with and all of them will pay you a commission for your referrals. You may be a little hesitant to start this right now, but there is really no better time to start than right now. Trust me, give it a try for 2 months and see how well you actually do.

Affiliate Marketing Strategy: Video Marketing Tips for Affiliates
Affiliate marketing is one of the fastest ways for anyone to make money online. You can choose one affiliate marketing strategy from the various strategies that Internet marketing gurus recommend. But if you were to concentrate on just one strategy, choose video marketing.
Andy Jenkins of the Video Boss fame, as well as other top Internet marketers would tell you to start doing online video marketing if you haven’t done so yet. That’s because the top gurus of the online marketing universe have demonstrated time and time again that video makes more money than most marketing techniques.
Video makes more money than most Internet marketing techniques for several reasons. Search engines are now placing more value to videos. That’s why for many search terms, the top results are videos.
Also, because we now live in a visual world, people are more engaged with video, and visitors are more likely to be converted into buying customers with video.
And the great news about video marketing is that it’s still a small market. Not a lot of affiliate marketers are taking advantage of online video marketing. Now’s the best time to act to dominate your niche with video.
Here are some of the things you can do start dominating your market with video.
Take advantage of videos your merchants provide
Many merchants are taking advantage of video. They provide affiliate marketers with promotional videos that they can use to promote their products and services.
If your merchant provides affiliates with videos, use it. Embed it on your site. You’ll find that with video, the likelihood that your visitor will click on your affiliate link and purchase will increase.
What if merchants don’t use promotional videos?
- Create your own videos using resources from your merchants
So your affiliate merchants don’t have videos. Don’t worry. You can create your own marketing video using software that is available on your computer and images from your merchant’s catalog.
Just be sure to find out with your merchant first if they allow their images to be used for such purposes.
-Promote your videos on all major video-sharing sites
So now that you’ve created your own promotional video, the next thing to do is promote it on YouTube. That’s fine. After all, YouTube is the default video-sharing site of the web. But don’t discount other video sharing sites such as Vimeo, DailyMotion and even MySpace. You’d be surprised to find out that other video-sharing sites could provide you with tons of highly targeted traffic.
-Promote your videos on social networking and bookmarking sites
As soon as you’ve uploaded your video on video-sharing sites, promote links to your video on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. Social networking sites are awesome tools that provide a great deal of traffic.
You also want to post your links on social bookmarking sites such as StumbleUpon and Reddit. Traffic from social bookmarking sites is highly targeted because they are based on very specific interests.
If you haven’t done so yet, start using video as part of your affiliate marketing strategy. Not so long ago, it used to take three to six months to see your first affiliate sale. But with video, it could only be a matter of hours before you see your first sale.

Why Students Should Learn Affiliate Marketing
Self-supporting or not, students like you do need money! Aside from tuition and other miscellaneous schooling expenses, there are other things that you’d need money for: projects and other school requirements, educational trips, books and gadgets that can help make studying a lot easier, etc. You don’t want to bother mom and dad who also have other expenditures to worry about, and you don’t have time to get a part time job. Still, YOU JUST NEED THE MONEY!
Well then, thanks to the Internet, there’s a perfect solution for you: AFFILIATE MARKETING.
What Is Affiliate Marketing?
Well basically, you just sell somebody else’s product’s or service’s online and get commission from the sales. You promote a certain site or product and get paid for every referral you get. As long as you’re using various affiliate marketing tools and earning money for every sale, click, download, registration or any other action, you are doing affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing is a practice that involves a publisher or third party referred to as an “affiliate”, who promotes a merchant’s product online and gets paid only for actual conversions. It makes use of various tools depending on the approach or marketing model used: pay per click (PPC), search engine optimization (SEO), content marketing, social media marketing, e-mail marketing, etc.
Now don’t get intimidated with all the terms. Learning this lucrative source of semi-passive income is quite easy, if you follow these steps:
1. Find A Unique Niche
A niche is a segment of the entire market population that you want to focus on. In this context, it’s a group or place where online users share common interests and similar behavior as consumers. Focusing on a niche lets you focus on the ins and outs of affiliate marketing on one particular consumer group, allowing you to maximize your results for less effort—that, compared with marketing in many different niches.
In choosing your niche, it is best to pick one that you are passionate about, interest in, or knowledgeable of. This will make it easier for you to promote to that particular market segment and create a reputation within the community. You’d also want to consider the product demand, competition and profitability of products in the said niche.
2. Do Your Research
Check out consumer behavior in the said niche, especially their “language”. By “language”, it means that you find out the exact words (keywords) that they use when searching for products through a method called keyword research. Google, currently the top search engine on the web, has free tools to help online marketers on this.
3. Set Up Your Website Or Blog
To become a publisher or affiliate, you’d need a website—an online portal that would serve as a store where you sell other people’s products. Choose a good, appropriate and easy-to-remember domain name and set up your website as the base of your affiliate marketing activities. (Check out our article on starting your own blog.)
4. Pick An Appropriate Approach
As mentioned earlier, there are various approaches to affiliate marketing and it’s up to you to pick which one or combinations to use. You may easily scour the Internet for them. Don’t be scared to try out different strategies as it is one of the most effective ways to find out the best method’s for your niche or product’s. Should you go for content marketing, it is better to supplement it with social media marketing to maximize your exposure. Just don’t forget to use the keywords from your research for your articles.
5. Generate Traffic And Monetize Your Site
Of course, you’ll need to have an audience; otherwise, you wouldn’t have people to promote to. You can use various strategies to generate traffic to your site like uploading quality articles that search engines would consider worth the read and online users would want to read and share. You can also participate in forums, SEO, post appropriate videos on YouTube, social bookmarking and networking, or write news articles, among many other techniques.
The thing about affiliate marketing is that you don’t have to monitor it the whole time, yet it can still generate income. You can optimize your strategies and work on your marketing methods during your free time, so it doesn’t have to get in the way of your studies. It’s like having a source of income in a setup and schedule that best works for you. That is one of the reasons why affiliate marketing is such a good money-making opportunity for students!
What do you think? Do you use affiliate marketing on your website/blog? Please leave your comments below.

Eight Ways to Make More Money as an Affiliate
Every month, I make a few hundred dollars in affiliate sales as a blogger, and those who focus on this form of monetization make even more. When I first started selling products as an affiliate, I was lucky to make a few bucks a month with Amazon. Lots of bloggers have given brilliant advice about working as an affiliate, but today I wanted to talk about some tips that worked for me to increase affiliate sales. You can make a few changes to increase passive sales, like me, or you can really run with these tips to make a full-time income with affiliate sales.
1. Capitalize on search terms bring people to your blog.
Stats come in handy if you’re looking to make a little more money as an affiliate. Check out the search terms that are bringing the most people to your site, and think about what those people are looking to purchase. For example, if people are coming to your food blog using the term “cupcake advice,” try linking to your favorite cupcake tins or decorating products on your sidebar through a well-placed banner.
2. Write reviews.
Lots of bloggers work with brands to review products, but you can really capitalize on these posts by includigoodng affiliate links to purchase at the end of your review. In addition, you can include links to related products, which is an especially good option if you didn’t like the product – link to other items a reader can consider instead.
3. Sweeten the pot on a new product.
This is an especially good tip for informational products, which are often launched with tons of affiliates in the same community. Why should a reader buy from you and not one of the countless other bloggers out there promoting the same new product? Sweeten the pot! For example, maybe if the sale is through you’ll site you’ll send a free copy of one of your ebooks.
4. Don’t be afraid to email you list.
If you try to sell to your list every two days, you’re probably going to see a large unsubscribe rate. However, if you never send out a sales email, you’re not making the most of a great opportunity to connect with people who want to buy what you’re selling. You can use emails to sell affiliate products just like you can use them to sell regular products. I send out a sales-related email about every other month, typically for a product that’s discounted for some reason.
5. Take advantage of buying seasons.
There are certain times of year when everyone is buying, regardless of niche – right before Christmas and Valentine’s Day, for example. In addition, specific products sell well during specific times of the year (for example, right now, weight loss products are hot since everyone’s trying to keep their resolutions). When you talk about products on your blog, using affiliate links of course, time your posts well.
6. Choose affiliate programs wisely.
Sometimes making more money as an affiliate is as easy as signing up for different programs. Some products are available from multiple companies and, thus, are available through multiple affiliate programs. Amazon has just about everything, but the percentage you’ll earn per sale is lower. Other affiliate programs may be more limited, but offer a larger percentage. Compare rates before you insert links, and consider going back through older posts that still receive a lot of traffic to replace links to better affiliate programs.
7. Compare products.
Readers love to learn about products relevant to them, but reviews aren’t your only option. You can also compare products, especially if there are two or three brands all selling similar items. Comparing them is great for search engine traffic, since lots of people look up “vs.” advice before they buy something.
8. Switch the locations of your banners and links.
It really is that simple sometimes. Affiliate links are great to place within posts and emails, but you can also make sales with banners and links on your site. Sometimes, just moving a button above the fold or to the end of a post or somewhere else makes a ton of difference. For example, I saw my sales increase when I added a product carousal to the end of posts on one of the blogs I run. Previously, I had the carousal on the sidebar and it barely got any attention at all. So do some split testing to find out what works.
Now it’s your turn: If you’re an affiliate, what changes have you made that have given you a boost in sales? Leave a comment with your best tip!
